I was so blessed just before Christmas to have a truly magical session with this wonderful family, adjusting to life as a party of 5!

I adore photographing newborns, the slow yet frenetic pace of a house, their smell, and sweet little fingers and toes. I am always honoured to be asked into someone’s home at this crazy beautiful time. That’s why my style is a little different when it comes to newborns. I prefer to take a very relaxed, natural, more organic approach that embraces the whole family and all the little moments and details in between that make this time so special. Little things that you may not completely remember in that whole fuzzy headed, sleep deprived newborn bubble.

I bring minimal things with me when I photograph, instead I prefer to use your home and elements within it as my ‘props’ and backdrop. A hat knitted by an excited Nanna, a beautiful wrap from the girls at work, a bassinett that generations of your family have slept in, a crocheted blanket from a great grandmother.  Things that will have meaning to you and your child in years to come and may even be handed down to your grandchildren!

There is no pressure to ‘get’ a certain pose, we go with the flow, rhythm and routine of your own baby and I will do simple, natural poses.

We may even have time to venture outdoors to a location that is special to you and your family (perhaps a warm sunny beach that will get you through Nepalese winters, as is the case of this family!).

And yes, the WHOLE family is welcome to be involved whether it be very excited 2 year olds, grandparents, curious four legged friends, and of course you the parents. I want to create a collection of images that will be beautifully real, a story that you can look back on for years to come.
