It’s pretty fair to say that this winter has been particularly cold, wet and windy. So when photographing this lovely family at the Abbotsford Convent, on a relatively warmish, sunny winters day, I wondered whether we had some sort of divine intervention from the ex-inhabitants of this historical place.
For a century from the 1860s the Sisters of the Good Shepherd and custodians of the convent provided shelter, food and work for thousands of vulnerable and poor women and girls. Which to me made it an extra special place to hold this session and to also photograph 3 generations of women in the one family.
Thank you Renee, for allowing me to photograph your lovely family and especially the delightful Gracey (who definitely has a theatrical streak in her – I predict Hollywood for her!). I had a wonderful afternoon and feel so lucky to be able to photograph the love and close bond you all share.
