I am proud to be a member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography which is Australia’s most recognised, established and leading membership body for the photographic industry, it works hard to foster and maintain the highest standards of not only professional ability but business ethics. Recently I decided (rather nervously) to enter the Victorian Professional Photographer of the Year Awards (VPPY’s) for the first time. These awards are judged, and submitted prints critiqued by Australia’s best and most recognised photographers and as well as being both an exhilarating and terrifying experience are most importantly an extremely valuable learning tool.
So I am totally delighted and thankful to announce that I am the very proud recipient of 6 silver merit awards!
I would like to especially thank Sarah Black & Steve Simmonds for their invaluable advice and assistance during what has been a very emotionally daunting process! I would also like to extend my sincere congratulations to the winners, runners-up and other participants I was honoured to see your beautiful work and be part of this process with you.
Ultimately, although it was fabulous to win these awards my mantra the whole way through them has been ‘it’s the journey not the destination’, and I feel that I have a very long journey ahead of me and I am constantly looking to improve, be more creative, to ensure that my clients are rewarded with photographs that truly represent them and their journey!
I look forward to sharing these images after the National competition in June and more importantly to an exciting year ahead!
Oh and I can’t go past a big sloppy kiss and hug for my beautiful, supportive husband and family. Who have held my hand, listened to me go backwards and forwards about “is this good enough?, do you like this?, agghhhh!” and had a bit of an absent mother and wife over the last few weeks. Thank you. I couldn’t do this, or follow my dreams without you.
